Getting the Most RV Camping Dalhart TX

from:

Dalhart, Texas, isn't known for its modesty, but then not much is in Texas. Located near the old location of the historic XIT Ranch, the small town serves as both a stopping off area for those on cross country road trips, for those on the way up to the rockies for a bit of summer fun, and as the site for the Yearly XIT Rodeo and Reunion. RV camping Dalhart TX is a breeze if you follow the basics of RVing and exercise some common sense.

The first thing to do when you are planning for RV camping Dalhart TX is to decide why you are coming to town. If you are coming for the annual XIT Rodeo, then this is easy, and finding accomodation will be just as simple, which we will come to in a moment. But if you are RV camping Dalhart TX for some other reason then you will need to evaluate some of your options. For those just looking for a quick rest stop on their way to another location, maybe a boondocking night at Dalhart's Walmart might be in order. If this is not to your taste, there are several campgrounds in the area that should be able to meet the needs of even the most discerning RVers. Three local area campgrounds are El Highway 54, Sunset Village, and the Corral. As usual, if you know for sure when you are going to be in town, make a reservation.

For those RV Camping Dalhart TX during the XIT Rodeo and Reunion, a bit more detail is needed. First off, you should know what the XIT Rodeo is, if you do not already. Named to honor the 3,000,000 acre XIT ranch which was given as a land grant to the men who built the state's capitol building, the XIT Rodeo and Reunion is something that is uniquely and distinctly Texan. The events stretch out over two weeks, and people come from all over the nation to compete in and watch them. If you've never seen a bareback rider or a bull rider do his thing, then you'll be blown away by what he goes through. Event schedules are released annually by the in advance of the rodeo. These are accessible via the web.

Another site of interest for those RV camping Dalhart TX is is the XIT Museum. The museum gathers together several exhibits that explore the world of the XIT Ranch, including period rooms such as a wedding chapel and installations that explore branding and the firearms of ranch hands. Worth a visit, definitely.
