• ½ stick of butter or margarine spread on the bottom of the dutch oven
• 1 box of your favorite cake mix, such as white or yellow cake dumped in next
• 1 can of your favorite canned fruit, such as cherries or pineapple, emptied on top
• Slightly stir all ingredients
• Place the dutch oven on a bed of hot coals
• Bake until done, between 30 minutes and one hour. Test by inserting a knife to see if it comes out clean

These recipes provide great flavor without much of a hassle. For one of the heartiest dutch oven camping recipes, place some stew meat with water in your dutch oven that is over hot coals. Stir and let the stew simmer until you are ready to dig in.
