A camp cooking brisket dutch oven is the perfect way to prepare a hearty and delicious feast that will satisfy a large group. Brisket tastes great over the campfire which adds a smoky flavor, and will be sure to satisfy you after a busy day camping outdoors. A large brisket dish will also be able to provide leftovers, and makes for great sandwiches to fuel you throughout the rest of your camping trip.

Following is a camp cooking brisket dutch oven recipe that can feed many. To make preparation of this recipe easier around the campfire, some of the work can be done in your kitchen beforehand.

• Prepare a fresh six pound beef brisket by hand rubbing both sides with a spice blend of 6 minced garlics, salt, pepper and 3 tablespoons of liquid smoke. Arrange 2 sliced onions on top, and let marinade for 24 hours if possible.
• In a large camp cooking brisket dutch oven, combine ½ cup of barbecue sauce, ½ cup of brown sugar, ½ cup of beer, ¼ cup of Worcestershire sauce and 2 tablespoons of liquid smoke. Let simmer until the sugar is dissolved.
• Place the brisket in a dutch oven and cover with the sauce.
• Slow cook the brisket in the dutch oven over 6 to 8 hot coals and put 8 to 10 hot coals on top of the lid. The dish should be ready to eat in about 5 hours.

A camp cooking brisket dutch oven will usually need to be large and deep in order to hold a rack of ribs. A great place to find a camp cooking brisket dutch oven is online. Web sites can offer a variety of styles and sizes, including dutch ovens that are perfect for preparing brisket.

A camp cooking brisket dutch oven will perform the best and produce the best tasting brisket if you use a cast iron dutch oven. Cast iron dutch ovens bring a unique flavor to your food and are durable, lasting you an entire lifetime with proper maintenance. The other choice for a camp cooking brisket dutch oven is one made of aluminum. These types of dutch ovens are more prone to rusting, but has the benefits of being much lighter than cast iron dutch ovens and are easier to care for and clean. Although aluminum dutch ovens are able to heat up and cool down much faster than cast iron dutch ovens, they can melt if exposed to extreme temperatures.
