Camping on a Budget With Discount Camping Equipment
from:Camping holidays are usually one of the cheaper ways of vacationing for a family. Sometimes however, even camping might seem expensive. There is plenty of discount camping equipment available now. It can be bought at your local store, at the larger supermarkets or from one of the many camping gear suppliers that you will find on the internet – some of which are especially dedicated to the sale of discount camping equipment.
Even though you may only be able to afford discount camping equipment try not to skimp too much on the tent that you buy. Most tents are not overly large and if you are going camping as a party of four, then don’t buy a four berth tent, buy a six berth one. You really will be glad of the extra room, particularly once you have your other gear in the tent.
You can get a decent tent for around two hundred dollars. This may not seem cheap but look on it as an investment in the future. If you take care of it a good tent can last for years and it will protect you from too much sun or from the wind and rain. Look for one that has an extra screen over the entrance because that will keep out the mosquitoes and other bugs that might interrupt your sleeping.
Most stores that offer discount camping equipment will sell tarpaulins they are well worth the fifteen or twenty dollars that they cost. You place them under your normal ground sheet and you get extra protection from the cold, damp, and marauding bugs. Like everything else, if you look after them properly and don’t put them away while they are damp, a good tarpaulin will last a long time.
If you buy your discount camping equipment online then you save yourself the hassle of having to go and fetch it and bring it home. One of the main reasons that discount camping equipment is cheaper online is because online retailers do not have the same overheads as ordinary stores – and most of them pass this saving on to you. Another way of saving money on camping equipment is to buy second hand gear or to rent it for the vacation.
One piece of advice applies whether you are looking for discount camping equipment or for some other equipment – make a list before hand and be sure of exactly what you need. Tent, sleeping bag and pots and pans are a bottom line list, there maybe other items that you regard as essential such as a decent torch or lantern.
