A good backpack can make your hike a lot easier and keep your equipment drier and safer than a cheap one. Cheap backpacks may be an uncomfortable fit and could make for a miserable camping trip.

Apart from the fact that a good backpack will last you a lot longer than most cheap ones, cheaper ones are not always up to the job. It’s a good idea to buy one with an extra strap that goes around your waist this will distribute the weight more evenly and you won’t get so tired. Get yourself some good hiking boots and break them in before you go on vacation. There is nothing worse than blistered feet, combine that with aching shoulders and you really are setting yourself up for an unhappy time. Wear warm and waterproof clothing and carry only essential camping equipment, backpacking can get miserable if you weigh yourself down with too much stuff.
